My experience at girls camp this year was very memorable. Here are a couple of pictures of what I saw twenty feet from my tent. I snagged these pictures off the internet because I wasn't about to take my own pictures and possibly have the bears notice me when the flash went off! The second picture with the bear on the table, well that shows you how BIG the Mama Bear was!We had bears visit the campground 3 out of 4 nights. The second night was right outside my tent. At about 1:30 in the morning I heard a very loud noise, I jumped up, looked out the tent window and whispered to my tent mates, "Oh my gosh, it's HUGE". I was a staring at a very large Mama Bear, she had just knocked over a aluminum recycle can and was moving on to the next trash can! Pretty soon the two cubs came bounding over and proceeded to play in the trash and run up and down the pine trees and attempt to run on the rope we had tied between the trees for our mess kits and towels. Mama Bear decided it was time to move on and she called the cubs with a strange clicking sound, just like all kids, they didn't come. Pretty soon she came closer and was growling at them. They returned the growls and came running down the trees and followed their big mama home. I saw the three bears! I don't know where Papa Bear was but i have a feeling he was around just not in my line of sight! Thank goodness. So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Lions and Tigers and BEARS oh my! Did you click your heals and say, "There's no place like home!" Glad you made it home safe! Even though it was scary I bet seeing the bears was awesome!
Bears at girls camp? Isn't there a policy against that? Were you also camping in the snow? It all sounds like it was soooo much fun! Wish I was there (not). Terry (By the way, no more "hot summer" jokes, please...)
