Teach the Children

Here's what Elder Nelson said at our Stake Conference about what to teach your children.

Teach your children about:
- The divinity of God the eternal father
- The divinity of themselves
- Prayer and how to recognize and receive answers their prayers
- How to know Christ, the Savior and Redeemer, our Judge
- How to read and study the scriptures - especially Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and 3 Ne
- The sacrament and to take deep & profound thoughts during it
- The atonement and the significance of the water and bread
- The gift of the Holy Ghost. As we have challenges in our lives, I challenge each of you to write them down as you listen to General Conference in a few weeks and the answers will come and will be answered through the Holy Ghost.
- God has always called prophets. Every dispensation where there has beeen a prophet called has always ended in apostasy. This dispensation is under the direction of the prophet Joseph Smith.
- Joseph Smith and his prophetic calling. He translated the Book of Mormon is less than three months.
- The restoration of the Priesthood and all the blessings involved therin
- The scriptures and to have reverence for them.
- How to focus on the temple; visit it, touch it, be worthy. do baptisms for the dead.
- How to prepare for and be worthy and ready to serve a mission.
- How to honor their parents
- How to be morally clean and chaste
- The blessing of tithing
- How to follow and obey the word of wisdom in spirit and in physical manner. (free from bondage of addiction)
- The plague of pornography - Don't touch it. Don't expose yourself to it!
- The importance of obtaining a good education
- How not to take the easy way out of things
- How to be dependable, honest, trustworthy, and in being good citizens.

Pretty neat huh?

"The day will come when you will be on your knees with tears in your eyes as you thank your Heavenly Father for the opportunity of being a father or a mother," Elder Nelson.
